The chance to go to India came through a study abroad opportunity with Troy University. The trip started in Delhi and from there we went to: Hairdwar, Rishikesh, Varanasi, Sarnath, Bodhgaya, Agra, Jaipur and back to Delhi. A truly inspirational adventure filled beauty, chaos and peaceful moments. We covered a lot of ground, literally.
The train trip from Hairdwar to Varanasi was about 625 miles taking a full 22 hours!
From a bicycle tour of Old Deli on one morning to the evening Aarti along the Ganges - to seeing the sunrise in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains, along with the many temples, Ashrams and parks we experienced all were truly wonderful as was the amazing food and people met along the way. In Rishikesh we went to the Ashram that the Beatles had visited in the 60s (it is a park now). This experience has been embedded into my thinking.
